Nigeria’s Vice-President Kashim Shettima is among the world leaders slated to address the seventy-nineth session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York.

UNGA seventy-nine opened on September tenth, while the General Debate opened yesterday and will end on Monday, September twenty-eighth.

The schedule for the speakers, released by the office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General yesterday stated that one hundred and ninety-four speakers would speak at the General Debate and that the number is also subject to change.

The breakdown, however, showed seventy-six Heads of State, four Vice Presidents, two Crown Princes, forty-two Heads of Government, and nine Deputy Prime Ministers among others.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Vice-President Shettima arrived in New York yesterday to represent Nigeria at the Debate, leading Nigeria’s delegation to the UN General Assembly and delivering Nigeria’s national statement and participating in various high-level meetings.

He was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; and the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani.
