The media has been described as a veritable tool for dissemination of programmes and policies for the development of the society.
The Anambra state Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mrs. Joy Alexander stated this when she received the Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council who paid a courtesy visit to her at the command’s headquarters in Awka.

Receiving the NUJ exco members and other stakeholders of the union, Mrs. Alexander said that she is a one-time Director of Information Education in FRSC, and as such, understands the importance of the media in achieving success against road crashes, ensuring safety on the road and adherence to traffic rules.


While pledging collaboration with the NUJ Anambra State council in some of its programmes, the Anambra FRSC boss announced that they will soon flag off ember months activities which will feature town hall meetings with stakeholders to ensure a hitch free Yuletide even as she promised to work with the Anambra state government to ensure maximum visibility of Road Safety personnel in the state.

Earlier, the Anambra state Chairman, of the Union, Dr Emeka Odogwu pledged the support of journalists to the advancement of the course of FRSC in the state and recalled that FRSC Anambra has been working closely with journalists in the state to ensure that road users obey traffic signs and rules.


Also speaking, the Matriarch of NUJ Anambra state and the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria, Professor Stella Okunna expressed happiness that a female commander is taking over as the Head of Road Safety in the state, urging her to work hard and have a better record than her male predecessors, even as she assured her of her support and that of journalists in the state.
