Igwe Michael Okekeuche of Enugwu-Agidi community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has celebrated 2024 Iwa ji festival.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that the event held at the palace of Okpalariam the third of Enugwu-Agidi, attracted the presence of other Traditional Rulers in the state, captains of industry, representatives of different religious organizations, among other people and groups that paid homage to Igwe Okekeuche.


In his remarks after the ceremonial cutting of yam to mark the annual festival, Igwe Okekeuche, who re-echoed the importance of Iwa ji in the community and Igboland in general, thanked God for the return of peace to the community, and Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his strides in the state, promising continued support of his people.


Traditional Prime Minister of the community, Dr Osita Anameze, an illustrious son of the community, Chief Onyeka Okeke-Mgbajiaka, Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Obiageli Uchebo, and Anambra State Director of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Mr. Loveday Ogbonna, said the festival is very important in uniting a people for community development.
Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, who also graced the occasion, said without traditional rulers, achieving the mandates of his ministry as regards ending harmful traditional practices will be difficult.
