The Managing Director Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi says over thirty-seven thousand vulnerable and poor Ndi Anambra are currently benefiting from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

He disclosed this during a one day retraining of the Officers-in-Charge of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Primary Health Care Centres on Monitoring and Evaluation Data collection tools in Awka.


Dr. Onyemaechi explained that the Basic Healthcare provision fund is an intervention of the federal and state governments to take care of the healthcare needs of the poorest of the poor and vulnerable members of the society.

He noted that in implementing the programme, monthly, the agency pays capitation to all the primary healthcare centres delivering the services across the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the State, adding that over thirty-seven thousand Ndi Anambra and one hundred and ten per political ward are currently benefiting from the fund.


One of the participants, Mrs. Ifeoma Okafor from Nnewi North Local Government Area expressed delight over the training, saying that she has learnt a lot in terms of data collection and patients’ referrals and follow-ups.
