The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has visited some markets and other locations in the state to monitor the level of compliance to his directive against the observance of the Monday-sit-at-home by some market people.
Governor Soludo, accompanied by some of his team members, went around select-markets and locations including: Nkwo Igbo-ukwu, Afọr Nnobi, parts of Nnewi, Nkwọ Oraifite, Upper Iweka, Ochanja, among others, to ensure that traders and buyers were adhering to the directive.
It was observed that business activities took place across the state, amidst water tight security.
Following the inspections, the Governor called on market leaders to intensify efforts to ensure traders and buyers adhere to the state government directives.
The Governor stated that the sit-at-home was impeding economic activities in the state and called on residents to disregard the order and go about their normal business on Mondays.
He further stated that the state government would support businesses by providing security and issued fresh directives to security agencies to ensure the safety of residents going about their daily business.
Traders in the markets visited expressed gratitude to the Governor for his visit and his efforts to ensure their safety.
They also expressed optimism that the Governor’s intervention would provide a boost to their personal and state economic activities.
