Professor Moses Chigbata Olise was born on January fourth, 1960, to the family of Late Ozo and Lolo David Chigbata Olise. Professor Olise began his educational journey at Regal Secondary School, Agu-Ukwu Nri, formerly known as Boys High School, Nri. After completing his secondary education, he earned multiple advanced degrees in the field of Marketing.

In 1991, he obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, graduating with an Upper Credit.

Professor Olise began his professional career at the defunct Premier Breweries, as a marketer and later earned a promotion to the role of overseeing finished products within the company.

He later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Nnamdi

Azikiwe University, Awka, in 1995, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution in 1998 and a second MBA, specializing in Marketing, from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, in 2005. In 2017 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Marketing from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

His academic prowess was reflected in the numerous journal publications and books he co-authored, many of which have become essential reading for students and professionals alike.

Professor Olise’s contributions to academia were recognized through various awards and honors including the “Most Punctual Lecturer” in the Department of Marketing at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the “Efficiency in Service” award from the Nigerian Association of Marketing Consultants and the “Best Academic Adviser” by the Nigerian Association of Marketing Students.

 

Professor Olise’s career at Nnamdi Azikiwe University began in 1999 when he was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Marketing. He became Lecturer Two in two thousand, Lecturer One in 2003, and Senior Lecturer in 2006. He served in various capacities, including UNIZIK Deputy Director and Director of different units in the university. He also served as the Faculty Senate Representative, Sub-Dean, and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences. Some of his mentoring influence included supervisions of many academic works such as assessment of professorial students at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus; visiting as an external examiner and visiting lecturer at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus and Paul University, Awka; and going for sabbatical and as an adjunct lecturer at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus.

He was promoted to a Professor in 2021, a position he held until his demise.

Beyond his academic achievements, Professor Olise was an active member of several professional bodies, including a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and the Nigeria Institute of Management, as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria, and member of the International Academy of African Business and Development.

Professor Olise was married to Mrs Theresa Nkem Olise from the family of Late Nze Emmanuel Enwelumonye Ogbuke of Ngene, Amawbia and the marriage is blessed with two kids.

Professor Olise’s life was one of service-to his family, to his profession, and to his community. His passing has left a void in the academic community, but his legacy lives on through the countless students he mentored and the body of work he left behind.
