The Youth wing of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, has presented a document of their new value system titled “I Believe in Anambra”.

The association also presented Anambra Community Youth Development Awards to their role models in Ayamelum.

During the program, the blueprint of the association was also unveiled which includes to train graduates in Ayamelum on transformational leadership and career development, to ensure that every child of school age living in Ayamelum goes to school and to take value reorientation to all schools in Ayamelum among others.


In his speech at Ayamelum Secretariat, venue of the event, the National President of ASATU Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli said they are poised to restoring peace and championing oneness in every community so as to reflect the sobriquet of the state as the light of the nation through the “I Believe In Anambra” campaign.

He explained that the objective of the campaign is to teach, reorient and sensitize the people about the three key elements of the transformation model of global governance and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the free education policy being implemented in the state.


Felicitating ASATU Youth wing on the occasion, the Mayor of Ayamelum Local Government Area, Honorable Alphonsus Ofumelu who was represented by his Deputy, Honorable Felicia Oruya, commended the youths for championing good governance in the state stating that there will not be any meaningful developments without the youth, asking them to remain agents of change.

In their different remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Dr Vincent Nwalieji -Okafor said he looks forward to seeing the impact of the campaign, saying that the working document for the programme contains inspiring, educative and transformational roadmaps.


In their goodwill messages, some of the individuals who were presented with awards as the role models of the youths in the local government area including Very Reverend Father Basil Ekwuife and Alhaji Momoh Mbonu-Musa represented by former local government Chairman of Ayamelum, Barrister Ben Anyabor asked the youths not to indulge in anything that will mar their future.

Award presentation to the Mayor of the Local Government Area, Honorable Ofumelu and other role models was the highpoint of the event.
