Life is a horizon. Book of Ecclesiastes says: there is time to born and time to die. Chief Richard Nweke – Ezemma (NWAMELUAKU) was born in 1950 to the family of late Ozoezemma Nweke and Late Oji-Efi Nneosinammuta Nweke-Ezemma in Amaokwe Village, Enugwu Quarter Umuawulu in Awka South L.G.A Anambra state.

Richard fondly called Lion Heart started his primary education at St. Joseph Catholic Primary School Umuawulu following his outstanding performance in First School Leaving Certificate Examination. He later entered Holy Cross High School Umuawulu – Mbaukwu with great zeal to do better, but could not finish up due to certain circumstances . Being anxious to succeed in life: he decided to follow late Mr. Godwin Okafor based in Enugu to learn Electrical business but at a point he could not conclude this aspiration.

Not relenting, he went on apprentice service with Umuawulu Brothers Service (UBS) under the teaching and supervision of late Mr. Raymond Ebele at their Onitsha branch for nearly eight years. After he was settled peacefully, Richard began his own business there in Onitsha, but later relocated to Yola, where the business was picking up gradually until his one lorry load of provision goods was seized by a Security Agency and the business collapsed completely.

In the absence of any other alternative; he decided to move down to village to start life afresh. Without wasting time, he embarks on palm wine tapping, farming and other sources of livelihood. Later his in-law late Mr. Boniface Nwankwo took him to “BIU” in Boronu State where he started his business again successfully. As he was about to heave a sigh of relief, he was knocked down by a deadly stroke and he decided to return home with his family.

He suffered the pain of the ill- fated sickness for nearly twenty-two years until his death at the age of seventy-four years.

In all these trials and tribulations, Richard did not relent in praising and thanking God for his mercy and love. He always recite his holy rosary believing that it shall be well. Richard lived solitary life. A sports enthusiast, an ardent listener to Radio News and other Programmes. He was survived by his wife Mrs. Felicia Nweke-Ezemma and Four Children Uchenna Nweke-Ezemma, Ebele Umeakuana, Nkiru Oji and Odinaka Nweke- Ezemma.
