The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export Mr Afam Mbanefo has won the Pan African Prize for Excellence.

Presenting the award to him in his office at Awka, the Speaker of African Students Union parliament, Mr Kewul Abel, stated that Mr Mbanefo has played a leading role in agricultural development in Nigeria ,adding that his innovations geared towards providing positive change in agriculture have exposed him as an outstanding leader.
Mr Kewul stated that the student’s parliament has observed with keen interest the achievements of Anambra State in the agricultural sector including export of agro produce and investments in the State and therefore extolled the State Government for playing a leading role in agricultural development.
The Speaker further stated that Mr Mbanefo’s contributions to youth empowerment and his administrative acumen was discussed at the African Students Union Parliament held at the University of Accra, Ghana, where he was unanimously chosen for the award.
In his acceptance speech, Commissioner Mbanefo thanked the students Union Parliament for the award and attributed the development to the purposeful leadership of Governor Willie Obiano.
The Commissioner commended the African Students Parliament for observing the agricultural development initiatives of Governor Obiano and advised the parliament to sensitize its members and youths to key into agriculture.
