The Enugu Electricity Distribution Centre (EEDC) has inaugurated community Relations Committee, that will interface between the distribution centre and the community for efficient service delivery.
Inaugurating the committee, selected from various communities, of Ogidi District , at the EEDC office, Ogidi , the Community Liaison Officer, Sir Tony Obi, disclosed that the aim , was to fashion a road map in creating a link for grassroot relationship, that will help in addressing issues and barriers challenging efficient service delivery.
He said the committee among other things will strengthen customer services as well as ensure checks and balances.
Addressing the committee members, Sir Tony, enjoined them to ensure harmonious working relationship between EEDC and the customers within the service centre through resolving local problems, arising from services rendered.
The committee is mandated to see that faults, are reported promptly and attended to as at when due, by the EEDC personnel in charge .
The committee will advance on terms of reference to include ensuring community electricity committees of neighbor hoods display, transparency in collection of bills and remission of such payments as and when due.
Providing adequate security for facilities in the areas to avert vandalisation, ensuring that committees seek attention of EEDC officials , for any form of maintenance, disconnection of defaulting customers.
Other terms of reference was to beam search light on staff and non- staff who engage in any form of illegal connection and collection of funds from customers among others.
In a remark, the Network manager, Ogidi District, Engineer, Chris Ezeoha , who called for co-operation between EEDC and the customers , said the committee is fundamental to customer satisfaction, pointing out that the measure is an innovation to achieve their objective.
He charged members on credibility, quality representation, as well as discharging the assignment on a positive perspective.
In an interview, the Communication Manager, Mr. Lazarus Onyearugbulam , who noted that EEDC has stepped up efforts in tackling the pitfalls in the sector appealed for an atmosphere that will enable them commence the exercise in all the districts in the five Eastern states.
Some of the newly inaugurated committee members including, Mr. Ignatius Anigbogu and Major Nelson Egwu, assured of putting in their best in the selfless services of reducing the plight of electricity consumers in the areas.
With the new development, a milestone achievement have been recorded in reducing the problems encountered in the sector.
