As some communities in the State have completed their various projects under the twenty million naira choose your project initiative of the Obiano administration others
have theirs nearing completion, while some are at the commencement stages.
The project being executed by the Awka Community under the initiative observed is still at the early stage.
The civic center which is the community’s choice under the initiative was sited beside the old Stadium along the Arthur Eze Avenue.
When ABS arrived the site, some government officials were seen doing monitoring and evaluation of the progress of work.
On why the building was still at the DPC level, the President-General of Awka Development Union Nigeria Mr Tony Okechukwu, said the project suffered an initial setback due to some issues arising from the land, where the project was situated as according to him, the past administration took part of the land where the old stadium was sited, but abandoned the project, until the Awka Development Union Nigeria sought and secured an approval from the present administration to site the project.
Mr Okechukwu explained further that the contractor was given three point eight million naira, which is the first part of the money, explained that they have applied for the second phase for the continuation of the project as the issue has been resolved.
While describing the move as grassroot development per excellence, Mr Okechukwu said that the gesture has remained indelible in the minds of every citizen of Anambra, as Governor Willie Obiano has appended his signature in the annals of history.
On the second term bid of Governor Obiano, Mr Okechukwu, said there is no need to remove someone who has done and is still doing much for the citizenry, calling on the State electorate to support the governor’s second term bid, for enhanced development of the State.
