Traders in Eke Awka Market have carried out a strict sanitation exercise, to ensure that all sections, nooks and cranny of the market are clean for the well-being of both traders and customers.

Most shops, plazas and sections in the market were closed during exercise which lasted for hours.


According to Sir Charles Anierobi, who is the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Eke Awka Market, the exercise became necessary due to the filthy nature of the market environment and commended traders for compliance.

The Head Taskforce, Anambra State Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA, Mr. Ikenna Nwanegbo, who was part of monitoring team for the clean-up exercise lauded the traders for their efforts and urged them to stop dumping wastes along the roads.


Other stakeholders of Eke Awka Market who spoke, including the Vice President of the Market, Mr. Echezona Obiano, the Head of Environment of the market, Mrs. Helen Nnoyelu and the Chairman, Fashion section of the Market, Mr. Dozie Okoli spoke on their impression following the sanitation and thanked all who made it possible.
