With the conclusion of nominations for the Great Igbo Achievers Awards, the process of the exercise has moved to the stage of recommendations, in accordance with approved guidelines and procedure that ensure integrity and fairness that will enhance sense of inclusion and a level playing ground for all participants.
Ahead of this year’s Awards, the Alaigbo Achievers Legacy, in collaboration with the United Igbo Elders Council, Worldwide constituted Committees from various parts of Igbo society to ensure the success of the activities.
A twenty-one Man Planning Committee headed by Justice Ikpeama, the Director General of Alaigbo Achievers Legacy, would make the necessary arrangements including logistics for the success of the ceremony on the scheduled day. There is also a seven-Man Selections Committee, headed by Chief Simon Okeke, former Chairman of the Police Service Commission that would pay visits to various Igbo Communities, examine online and empirical records to identify and assess candidates nominated for the Awards, and make recommendations. This Committee’s recommendations would be submitted to a twenty-four-member Alaigbo Elders Council by December fifteen, 2024 for a final ratification.
The Awards are expected to attract prominent dignitaries and stakeholders from across Igboland, Nigeria, and the global Igbo community.
The Alaigbo Achievers Legacy in collaboration with the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide, is committed to showcasing the Igbo and like-minded Nigerians to the world. Hence, the Achievers Awards was conceptualized to constructively examine landmark achievements and legacy projects of Igbo and like-minded corporate organizations, states, and notable individuals with proven integrity, hard work and dedication for recognitions and honours. The Great Igbo Achievers has a Vision to evolve and pursue a digital benchmark of universal excellence in all aspects of life, and encourage Ndigbo everywhere to showcase themselves as global role models, consistent with the benchmark.
The Great Igbo Achievers shall in due course also embark on the construction of a Legacy Building in Enugu, capital of the old Eastern Region of Nigeria, to house an Igbo Hall of Fame, where those who merit and deserve it shall be immortalized in letters of gold for all generations to behold.
Membership of the organization is open to all purpose-driven Igbo men and women in whatever fields of human endeavour with a proven interest in the Vision and Mission of either the Great Igbo Achievers, or the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide. This is a clarion call for Ndigbo everywhere to join the drive towards uniting and elevating the collective Igbo heritage at the global stage. Be part of the Great Igbo Achievers, a critical Think-Tank on Nation-Building.
