Anambra State Government has stepped down the memo on installation of solar street lights in Awka.

A release from the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, showed that the State Executive Council took the decision at its thirty fifth Executive Council meeting held at the council chambers in Awka to pave way for downward review of the unit cost of the solar powered lights which it noted is on the high side.

The council rescheduled the memo for re-presentation at the next ANSEC meeting where all specifications would be available, noting that the slip in the last release, which reported the street light project as having been awarded, is regretted and should be treated as such.

It assured that the public will be updated when a decision is taken on the matter.
