People whose rights are being trampled upon have been asked to take necessary steps under the law to access justice.

Speaking to the ABS in Onitsha on the seventy-sixth celebration of International Human Rights Day, a human rights activist, Barrister Emeka Madu stressed that all humans are born free and equal in dignity and rights but because human beings are selfish in nature, they want to manipulate the law.

Barrister Madu who spoke on some obnoxious practices against women and girl child, and other aspects of the law said it is a criminal offence for any parent or guardian to deny a child or ward access to education.

On his part, the Executive Director of Centre for Human Rights and Peace Advocacy, Onitsha, Mr. Peter Onyegiri said International Human Rights Day is being celebrated to remind people that human Rights are still enforceable.

The theme for 2024 International human Rights Celebration is “Our Rights, Our future, right now”.
