The Ihiala Progress Union Awka Branch will on Sunday Twenty Second December,  hold a reception for Ihiala indigenes  elected or appointed into various positions  in Anambra State government. The Union will also  use the opportunity to raise funds for its one hundred million naira Ihiala House project in Awka

The ceremony which will hold  in  Awka  will be under the chairmanship of Professor Chijioke Agbasiere  and will start by twelve noon. The Royal Father of the day is Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu, the traditional ruler  and Clan Head of Ihiala while the Special Guest  of Honour is  Barrister Okey Ohagba, President General, Ihiala Progess Union.  The Chief Host is Engineer Emeka Udezeh, Chairman   Ihiala Progress Union, Awka Branch.

Among those to be  honoured are Honourable Jude Ngobili, the Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala One Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Barrister Vin Ezeaka,  Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission and Mr Jerome Ilokwu, Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Culture , Entertainment and Tourism Awka.

The Union will also present awards and install some dignitaries as patrons including Dr Pascal Agbodike, member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives Abuja, Nze Chidi Okani, Honorable Jude Ngobili, the Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala One Constituency  at the Anambra State House of Assembly and Sir Shedrack Onuigbo, former Commissioner, Civil Service Commission.

Ihiala Progress Union Awka Branch  is an umbrella body for all Ihiala indigenes resident in Awka and environs  with the primary aim of promoting  and  propagating love, togetherness and welfare of people of  Ihiala  who live in Awka in particular and Ndi Ihiala in general

As a branch of Ihiala town union, the IPU Awka branch   contributes   effectively towards carrying out the Town  union’s responsibilities as the  fourth tier of government and provides  fundamental  administrative connection  between the state and local government Council  on the one hand and the communities on the other.

The Union is equally collaborating with the traditional institution and  other stakeholders  to provide the needed  linkage between the government and the grassroots towards developmental goals, maintenance of peace and ensuring that the pulse of the people is constantly felt and transmitted to local and State governments.

The IPU Awka Branch wants to use this opportunity to commend Governor Chukwuma  Soludo  for his multisectoral and integrated approach to governance and remarkable achievements as well as the  impact of infrastructural and human capital development recorded so far, including  the ongoing dualization of the Nnobi – Nnewi -Okija road.

IPU Awka Branch is inviting friends and well wishers  of the Union, stakeholders and people of Ihiala as well as the general public to the epoch – making event to honour our sons who have distinguished themselves  in both public and private sectors respectively and support the Ihiala House  project which when completed will serve as a rallying point for people of Ihiala for socioeconomic activities.
