To address cases of abandoned vehicles on the roads, as well as save life during emergencies, the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Transportation, has launched “iRescue Emergency Solution”.
iRescue is an emergency solution platform designed to connect users in the state with towing, ambulance and police emergency services, and the launching, which took place in Awka, was attended by stakeholders in the transportation sector, and representatives of security agencies in attendance.
Launching the programme, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Engineer Micheal Obiekwe, said to transform Anambra into a smart, livable and prosperous city, there is need to deploy smart technology to the transportation sector, adding that the measure will bring all stakeholders in the transportation sector together to work as a team and bring solution to the door of the citizenry.
In their separate speeches, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, represented by Mr Emmanuel Ikeaguani, Managing Director of Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA, Engineer Emeka Okonkwo, and representative of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Evaristus Oguadimma, maintained that the platform will help more in saving lives, especially this season of celebrations.
While illustrating the mission and vision of the platform, the Chief Executive Officer of iRescue Emergency Solution, Mr Nsikak Joseph-Nelson, said that the solution will provide timely and life-saving emergency services that are reliable through a friendly mobile platform.
