The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed deep concerns over the un-organized distribution of palliatives, which has resulted in tragic stampedes across the country.

In Ibadan, Oyo State, a children’s funfair turned deadly on December eighth, claiming at least thirty-five lives.

Speaking through the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, at a press briefing in Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police noted that another stampede during food distribution at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja yesterday, led to the death of ten individuals and urged organizers to always prioritize safety by involving security agencies.
