Goat vendors in Awka have lamented poor sales as a result of the present economic situation in the country, even when there were large number of goats and rams in the market.
Speaking to the ABS, the chairman of goat vendors in the market Chief Peter Nwaolisa who regretted that the price of goats and rams tripled this Christmas season, said that a goat that was sold ninety thousand last month now goes between two hundred and fifty thousand and three hundred thousand naira and called on the government to return fuel subsidy to end hunger in the country.
According to a buyer Mr Chukwuemeka Ekweli in the month of August, he bought two sizeable goats at the cost of ninety thousand each but now to buy a goat is between two hundred and fifty to three hundred thousand naira.
The story was the same at Eke Awka where a cloth vendor Mr. Ebere Ezeamaku lamented the level of hardship this season and called for the intervention of God to deliver Nigeria from economic crisis.
