The entire Igwe in-Council, Ndi Nze na Ozo, Azia General Assembly and Ojuro family of Umudansu village Azia in Ihiala Local government area have performed the last Ofala Outing for their Traditional ruler, Igwe Pius Chikwado Ojuro.
The holy Mass heralding the event took place at the Traditional ruler’s palace; with people from all walks of life, including the Auxillary Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese, Most Reverend Luka Gopep, other members of the clergy and the religious coming to pay their last respects to the Traditional ruler.
In his homily, an indigenous priest, Reverend Father Chijioke Azuawusi, affirmed that the thirty-nine years of peaceful reign of Igwe Ojuro brought development to Azia community, describing the last Ofala as a celebration and thanksgiving for the life of the monarch.
First son of the deceased and Obi of Umudansu, Dr Ifeanyi Ojuro, as well as a daughter of the deceased and Executive Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, noted that their father was a great man, full of intelligence; yet humble and contented with what he had, and appreciated all that graced the occasion.
President General of Azia General Assembly, Dr Tonna Nwabueze, noted that Igwe Ajuro reigned with peace and compassion, adding that his strength and courage were a beacon of hope in times of turmoil, his visionary leadership a guiding light which has left an indelible marks in the annals of Azia history.
