Urum Anike community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State has refuted the rumor making rounds that kidnappers have their den in the town, describing the circulating ‘voice note’ as the work of mischief makers who mean no good for the town and the state government.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the community made this known through the President General, Sir Felix Oranye, in an interview with the ABS on the development.
Sir Felix explained that there is neither thick forest in Urum community nor kidnappers’ den as claimed by the said viral voice note, as Urum is an agrarian community and members of the town farm on all the lands to the boundaries with the neighbouring communities, saying that through the town union’s investigations, it was discovered that the voice note was doctored by haters of the town and government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration.
Contributing, the Secretary General of Urum Development Union, Comrade Matthew Ekwoanya, while wondering what the rumor mongers intended to achieve with falsehood, said that Urum Anike has a vibrant and well-equipped security team who patrol round the community, including farm lands daily, and nothing relating to the claims of the scandalmongers has never been deyec in the history of the town.
