As the fifty-five anniversary of the end of Nigeria civil war was marked yesterday, ABS correspondent Blessing Ijedibia takes a look at the activities and where the ceasefire  agreement took place which she traced  to the late Ben Atuchukwu’s Compound at Amichi, in the present Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The great Assembly attracted those that mattered in the then Nigeria polity including the then lieutenant General Olusengu Obasanjo who represented the Nigerian Army, Colonel Philip Efffong stood in for Biafra Army, while the then Major Gen Yakubu Gowon was   the Head of State.

After the deliberations, the Assembly declared the thirty months civil war no victor no vanquished and constituted the three R’s of Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.

Some war veterans including Messrs Chuma Ezeh and Cosmas Ekwealor who said they participated in the war, condemned war in its entirety calling for unity of the country.
