Japanese Government and United Nations Office for Project Service, UNOPS, have handed over the climate disaster emergency support project executed in Anambra to the state government.
Apart from the flood detective-device installed in some major rivers in the state, the group also handed over ten vehicles, three big trucks, ICT equipment, among other things to the government.
In a remark on behalf of the Japanese Government, the Charge d’Affaires, Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, Mr Hitoshi Kozaki, restated the government’s commitment to helping Anambra State mitigate flooding and other climatic challenges, adding that the recent intervention was targeted at saving lives and properties.
Responding, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, thanked Japanese Government and UNOPS for coming to the aid of the state, noting that the intervention will go along way in complementing the efforts of his government towards protecting Ndi Anambra from adverse effects of flood disaster.
