Anambra State Government says it is committed to enforcing development control across the state.
The Chairman of Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe made this known during an emergency meeting conveyed by Anambra State Physical Planning Board, management of Nigeria Television Authority and the Trans-Nkisi Landlords Association, following the demolition of over one hundred shanties built along the NTA premises in Trans Nkisi, Phase One Housing Estate Onitsha.
According to Barrister Maduekwe, the law of the state stipulates that any developer that wants to put up a building must receive approvals from them to avoid demolition of buildings constructed without approvals.
According to him, even government agencies build structures with approvals, stressing that the shanties are clearly on government right of way which is why the Soludo-led government is building a massive boulevard on the road.
On her part, the General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority, Onitsha, Mrs. Violet Nnadi, alleged that no personal letter was issued to her concerning the buildings before the board carried the demolition exercise.
