Anambra State Government is designing a comprehensive master plan for the development of Agulu lake, Anam beach, Awka City Park, Ogbunike and Owerre-Ezukala caves.
Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji, who disclosed this at a stakeholders engagement workshop for Anambra State tourism development project held in Agulu, explained that the meeting is the first in the series of plans to professionally package Anambra heritage sites towards becoming globally acclaimed attractive tourism destination; in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
On her part, the Principal Adviser, Red Clay Consultants, Adun Okupe, revealed that they are partnering the state government to achieve a tourism master plan that is unique to each of the sites and can yield returns across economic and social gains, as well as protect and preserve the environment, while the Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Chief Romanus Ibekwe, noted that the initiative is in line with Governor Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra to become one of the most attractive tourist sites in the world and assured that the people of Agulu are willing to cooperate with the state government on what is to be done to develop Agulu lake.
