As the global community marks “World Day of Social Justice” today, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor, has called for massive industrialization of the nation, strict adherence to federal character principles, as well as efforts to bridge the gap between salaries of federal and state workers; considering that both are daily exposed to same economic condition.
The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Humphrey, who regretted that funds meant for development of society are being looted by the political class, also called for better workers’ remuneration that is commensurate with present economic reality.
Contributing, a Human Rights Lawyer, Mr Ejiofo Umegbogu, said for Nigeria to be part of the global community where citizens enjoy social justice, Chapter 2 of the constitution which extensively provided for the socio-cultural, economic, political and environmental rights of citizens should be amended to make it enforceable and legally binding on the government.
