Stakeholders have been urged to join hands with community and religious leaders in the crusade against surge in domestic violence.
Speaking in Awka, the immediate past Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said the ugly trend is fast destroying the institution of marriage and threatening the future of the society, noting that poor parental care and failure to inculcate necessary moral and sociocultural values have left the upcoming generation at the mercy of negative influence of western way of life and social media.
Chief Okeke Ogene stressed the need for tolerance, anger control and respect for rights of others while couples should be contented with what they have to avoid unnecessary financial pressure.
He commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Honourable Ify Obinabo for her sustained efforts towards protecting women, children and other vulnerable members of the society.
