Anambra youths have celebrated this year’s International Women’s Day at Integral Development Konsult, Awka themed “Character: protecting and promoting womanhood for sustainable community progress”.
Speaking to the ABS, the convener of the programme who is a youth advocate, Mrs. Ify Aronu-Okafor, noted that the patriarchy in Nigeria is the major problem facing women, and regretted that the legislation in the country tends to enforce the patriarchy system and thereby boxing women into the corner, regretting that women are not being empowered like their male folks.
In his speech, the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Christopher Molokwu described women as very powerful creatures with so much innermost qualities and revealed that the outfit has so many programmes both on radio and television that strictly focus on women folk.
On her part, the host and Chief Executive Officer of IDK, Mrs. Chinwe Nweke, called on women to always speak out whenever they are abused and canvassed for proper care for women to prevent mental challenges..
