The Chief of Field Office of United Nations Children’s Fund Enugu State, Mrs. Juliet Chiluwe says essential vaccines have helped save 0ver one hundred and fifty million lives.

 

Mrs. Chiluwe who stated this at a two-day multizonal media dialogue on 2025 World Immunization Week with the theme: “Immunization for all is humanly possible, noted that the theme of the year reaffirms the feasibility and necessity of protecting everyone from newborns to the elderly against vaccine preventable diseases.

In her contribution, a Health Specialist, UNICEF Enugu Field Office, Dr. Ifeyinwa Anyanyo revealed that more lives are saved as a result of immunization, adding that vaccines protect people from life threatening diseases.

 

Also speaking, Dr Olusoji Akinleye, a Health Specialist at UNICEF Enugu Field Office, disclosed that measles vaccine alone account for sixty percent of lives saved, noting that world immunization week is aimed at protecting people of all ages against vaccine preventable diseases.
