The State Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners and Ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs in collaboration with the Federal Cash Transfer Office,

have organized a two day cash transfer training for felicitators of cash transfer programme drawn from the three senatorial zones benefiting from the Federal Government’s five thousand naira monthly stipend for most vulnerable in the country.

The present benefiting Local Governments Areas from the zones include Dunukofia, Awka North, Ayamelum, Anambra West, Orumba South, and Ihiala.

In an address, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Azuka Oformata, commended the Federal Government for the initiative, assuring that the state government will continue to do the needful to ensure that people of the state continue to benefit from the programme.

Addressing the participants, the National Training Officer, National Cash Transfer Office, Mr. Solomon Kola, charged them to always educate the beneficiaries on how to better their lives through skill acquisition and small scale business as according to him, the five thousand naira monthly stipend is too small for livelihood, assuring that the federal government would soon add more people to benefit from the initiative.

On his part, the Head, State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr. Raph Enukorah, while appreciating the Obiano government for maintaining the payment of the state counterpart fund which qualified the state as one of the benefiting states, disclosed that presently, three thousand one hundred and twenty two indigent persons in the state are benefitting from the scheme, and expressed hope that in no distance time, more people and local government areas will be included in the programme so as to enable more less privileged persons benefit.
