Over two hundred Oraukwu men, women and children, have benefited from a free medical mission organized by the Anambra Irish Professionals Association, AIPA, based in Republic Of Ireland.
During the medical outreach which was held at the Oraukwu Community’s Civic Center, beneficiaries were diagnosed of various ailments including diabetes, eye problems, Blood Pressure, Sugar level, among others, as well as given medications.
The medical mission by the group was aimed at providing quality health care services to people in rural areas who have no access to quality health care services because of financial challenges.
Speaking to the ABS shortly after participating in the exercise, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who hails from the community, commended the group for supporting the efforts and commitment of the Obiano government in ensuring an improved health status of the citizenry especially those in the hinterlands.
He encouraged other privileged Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to borrow a leaf from the group on selfless service to humanity, which he said has helped in improving the health conditions of the people in the area especially those that do not have money to access hospital services.
On his part, the Chairman of the Anambra Professionals Association Ireland, Sir Paul Uzor, said the group decided to embark on the medical mission following the increasing health challenges confronting the people in today’s society, especially indigent persons who cannot afford good health care services
Expressing happiness on the massive turnout of the people during the exercise, Sir Paul assured that the group will replicate such intervention in other parts of the state to enable more less-privileged persons to benefit from the scheme.
The group later paid a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of the community, Barrister Emeka Onuorah, where the Traditional Ruler and the President General of the town, Barrister Cyril Ejidike, thanked the group for choosing Oraukwu for the medical intervention.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs Ifeoma Ezeugwu, Chain Osoaku, Mr. Godwin Asiegbu, Mr Godfrey Obinugwu, and Miss Oluebube Ogbodo, thanked the group for the free medical check and medications given to them and prayed God to reward them abundantly.
