State Government has cautioned the public, especially traders against making payments to illegal revenue collectors.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Dr Christian Madubuko, gave the warning in a statement in Awka.
The Commissioner informed the public that Anambra State Government had not approved or authorized any agents or corporate bodies to collect fees and tolls in markets or business premises.
He added that the collection of levies or fees were illegal and strictly prohibited until approved by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.
Commissioner Madubuko named some of the illegal fees as Sanitation fees to include Hawkers’ Toll and Street Market Traders Development Levies.
Others are Capitation Rate, Artist Fees, Sanitation levies from Commercial Buildings and Hospitals, Wheel Barrow Fees and Craft Metal Tolls.
Dr Madubuko, said that the Ministry of Trade and Commerce was not aware of authority letters, used by dubious agents to extort the traders.
He re-assured traders, that Government is ever ready to rid all markets in the state of all forms of fraud, forgery of government receipts and illegal revenue collection.
