State residents have been urged to avoid acts capable of blocking drainages to reduce the incidence of flooding in parts of the State.

A legal practitioner and Social Commentator Mr Joseph Ananti, made the call on ABS Radio audience participatory programme Press Review in Awka.

Mr Ananti who maintained that dumping of refuse in drainage channels escalates challenges of erosion and flood, urged the citizenry to ensure proper disposal of wastes.

Another discussant and Co- ordinator Not Too Young To Run Movement, Mr Nonso Orakwe, commended the State government for its efforts in promoting clean and healthy environment, calling on traditional rulers , Presidents -General of town unions and other community leaders in
various parts of the State, to be dedicated in ensuring that refuse are well disposed.

Callers on the programme including Innocent Oguejiofor from Enugu State, appealed to the Federal Government to be more proactive in tackling flood menace in the country.
