The State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has mandated all the Ministries,
Parastatals and Agencies appearing before it for 2016 budget verification to come with all necessary documents to enable them do a good job.
The committee stated this when the Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam appeared before it for the verification.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Charles Ezeani, explained that the 1999 constitution as amended empowers the Committee to verify the audited account of every organ of the state government every year, with a view to ensuring transparency in disbursement of government fund.
The Committee charged government ministries, parastatals and agencies to always follow due process in disbursement of government fund.
After verifying the 2016 audited account of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, the Committee asked the management to come with all the necessary documents that will enable it to do the needful in their next meeting.
In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics of the University, Professor Elis Dimobi commended the House for living up to its constitutional responsibilities, assuring them that they would meet all their requirements.
