Christians have been urged to abstain from sin in order to inherit the kingdom of God.

The Prefect Emeritus Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of Sacraments at the Vatican City Rome, Francis Cardinal Arinze, gave the advise in a homily during a mass at All Saints’ Catholic Church Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area.

Francis Cardinal Arinze stressed that the only way to be free from sin and destruction is through prayers and supplications.

He stated that even though sin appears to give pleasure for a while, the Bible clearly warns that it eventually leads to death.

He said that God designed his commandments for man’s protection and blessings and called on Christians to renew their relationship with God in order to rejoice at last.

Cardinal Arinze, who also spoke on the Nation’s fifty-eight independence anniversary, called on Nigerians to contribute their quota towards the development of the nation.

On his part, the Parish Priest of the Church, Very Reverend Father Theophilus Odukwe appreciated Cardinal Arinze for officiating at the Eucharistic service stating that his presence will no doubt uplift the spiritual lives of the congregation.

The Director of News and Current Affairs of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Gab Okpalaeze was also part of the Holy Mass.
