Teachers all over the state have been urged to meet up with the twenty- first century job demand which is the Information Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning.

This charge was given by the Ambassador of Technovation in Nigeria, Mrs. Stella Uzochukwu, during the 2018 World Teacher’s day
celebration, held at the Anambra Teachers House, Awka.

Addressing the Anambra teachers, Ambassador Stella emphasized that ICT is the basic form of education in these recent times and has gone a long way in determining the future of virtually every aspect of human endeavour.

She advised teachers to embrace information technology in order to
cope in the changing world , stressing that ICT makes the teaching job easier, as the students can easily access the internet.

Governor Willie Obiano, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, acknowledged the great
strides of the administration in installing and providing all necessary education tools in various schools, to make teaching easier.

He urged the teachers to take pride in their work.

When commending the teachers for their hard work, the Commissioner for
Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha represented by the Director
of schools Department, Ministry of Basic Education, Doctor Ray Ofor,
enjoined the teachers to work harder for maximum output.

The state chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Comrade Ifeanyi Ofodile, had in his speech, called for increase in the take home pay of teachers as well as improvement on the school structures and teaching facilities .

Guests present on the occasion included the former Zonal Director of
PPSSC Awka zone, Lady Ngozi Agbasimelo, the state secretary NUT,
Comrade Livinus Omini, the TUC chairman, Comrade Okechukwu Ifeanyi, the former National Deputy President NUT, Sir Vincent Otikpa.
