Residents of Uzuzu Camp at Igbariam, Anambra East council area are counting their loses as the area has been submerged by flood for the past one month,
The flood has also claimed one life and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Residents of area made this known while conducting news men round the community.
Conducting newsmen around the camp, the chairman of the Camp Mr. Anthony Okafor, said their area has been under water since last month leaving them hungry and homeless.
He called on government and public spirited individuals to come to their aid and assist them to survive.
Also speaking, Mrs. Akala Mgbako who regretted that she borrowed money from bank for the cultivation of her farm, said she cannot boast of food to sustain her family and has no means of refunding the bank loan.
The Secretary of the Camp, Mr Ambrose Akwuba called on both NEMA and SEMA to save them from hunger and starvation by helping them financially and providing them with farm inputs to enable them return to farm next season.
In their separate reactions, Messrs Ikechukwu Oguguo and Nwaebube Oguguo while appreciating the state government for assisting those affected by flood through SEMA, pleaded for government’s attention to the Camp which has been under water for almost one month now.
