A building collapse at Otolo Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government
Area has claimed two lives.

The collapsed three storey building also trapped eleven people working
as labourers.

When ABS arrived at the scene a bulldozer was seen clearing the debris
as frantic efforts were on to rescue two people who were still trapped in the building.

After much efforts and excavation , one young man was discovered dead.

Speaking to the ABS, a resident of the area, Mr Kenechukwu Nwafor said that nine of the eleven persons trapped were rescued by men of the Nigerian Red Cross and others who came to assist.

Another resident Mr Gideon Chigozie said that one of them who sustained an injury later died at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, adding that the remaining trapped person was the leader of the workers.
