The state coordination office of the Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA, has appealed to the five participating Local Government Councils to accept moderate fees from communities that want to register their projects management committee for their full integration into the project.

The General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Chudi Muojekwu made the appeal during a two day training in Awka.

Mr. Muojekwu noted that the project is a pro- poor initiative and as a result the benefiting communities should not be charged much money in order not to deny them the right to benefit.

He said that only ten out of the fifty-five benefitting communities have done their needs appraisals and economic profiling. Mr. Muojekwu announced that they will commence funding of communities before the end of the year.

Taking participants on the “Roles and Responsibilities of Local Government Review Committees, the Operation Manager, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo said that the training aims to nurture them on how to seamlessly review proposals from communities as the agency is fast tracking the process of implementation.

Mrs. Nwaizugbo while describing Local Government Review Committees as the clearing house for Community Development Plans, CDP, urged them to monitor and ensure compliance to Community and Social Development Project guidelines in the implementation of community projects.

Some of the participants, including the Transition Committee chairman, Anambra East Council Area, Mr. Pius Ifeadi, Igwe MC Okeke of Awgbu community, Orumba North Council Area and the CSDA desk officer, Anambra West council area, Mrs. Gloria Nwafor said the knowledge they garnnerd from the training would expand their scope for better performance.
