A total of sixty new medical Doctors from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital , NAUTH, Nnewi campus have been inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria MDCN.

The Forty- Fourth induction ceremony for the Medical graduands of Nnewi campus witnessed by parents and guardians of the graduating students as well as the senior colleagues of the medical school, commenced with a procession led by the Vice chancellor of the university , Professor Joseph Ahaneku, who also chaired the event.

In his speech, Professor Ahaneku expressed joy with the graduands whom he described as the pride of the University, having been found worthy in character and in learning , urging them to go into the professional practice imbued with the core values of discipline , self reliant and excellence.

Professor Ahaneku commended the lecturers whom he said have produced a total of two thousand one hundred and sixty- four medical Doctors since the inception of the medical school fifteen years ago.

Earlier in a welcome address the Dean , Faculty of Medicine, NAU, Nnewi campus , Professor Gerald Udigwe congratulated the medical graduands and charged them to move into the next stage of life by getting their priorities right.

In their separate remarks the Provost, College of Health Science, of the institution, Professor Alexander Nwafor and the Chief Medical Director, NAUTH, Nnewi campus Professor Anthony Igwegbe described the event as a celebration of success and urged the granduands not to cut corners but remain current with the advancement in the health sector.

Delivering a lecture on the challenges in the Health sector, Dr. Nathan Ojukwu noted that lack of modern equipment, absence of opportunity for development of poor infrastructures and irregular power supply are the major challenges facing the medical profession.

Other dignities who spoke at the event include the chairman, NMA, Anambra State chapter, Dr Emmanuel Muonago, the Vice Chancellor , Enugu state University of Science and Technology, Professor Luke Anike, the President UNIZIK Alumni Association, Dr Evaristus Afiadigwe and the class Governor of the 2018 class of medical graduands of NAUTH, Dr Donatus Ugwu who presented their valedictory speech.

Dr Collins Olisaemeka Nweke emerged the overall best graduating student while twenty best graduating students were offered employment by the University.
