The state Commissioner of Police Mr Garba Umar has implored the Public to stay away from the flood ravaged areas and take safety precautions in order not to expose themselves to danger.

Mr Garba reacted on the discovery of a man and woman laying unconscious at Odume Obosi, in Idemili North Council Area.

Narrating the incident, Mr Umar said that on getting the information, the police patrol team attached to Obosi Division visited the scene
and rushed the victims to Unity hospital, Obosi where a medical Doctor certified them dead on arrival.

He noted that preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were suspected to have been drowned and carried away by heavy downpour on Saturday as the area is heavily ravaged by flood erosion as a
result of the downpour within the same locality.

Meanwhile, the female body was later identified as Mrs Oluchi Nwafor, a Staff of First Bank Ochanja branch, Onitsha, while effort is ongoing to establish identity of the male victim.

Police Patrol teams have been deployed to the affected areas to save lives and prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation.
