The Nigerian National petroleum Corporation NNPC, says it has no plan to increase the pump price of petrol contrary to speculations.
The Group General Manager Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, disclosed this in an interview with Abuchi Nwozor of the ABS at the NNPC Tower in Abuja.
Mr Ughamadu who maintained that the pump price of petrol remains one hundred and forty-five naira per litre, stressed that only the prices of Dual Purpose Kerosene, DPK, and Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, are being decided by the market forces because according to him the two products have been deregulated.
The Group General Manager Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC who assured that the corporation has enough petroleum products for consumers throughout the forthcoming yuletide and beyond cautioned the public against panic.
Mr Ughamadu who reminded the public of the volatile nature of petrol advised them to desist from storing it in residential buildings to avoid fire outbreaks.
He said that the NNPC has set up a special monitoring team in all the thirty-six States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to work in collaboration with the Department of Petroleum Resources DPK, and relevant security agencies to ensure that indigent Independent Petroleum Marketers are not shortchanging the consumers.
