The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will commence distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.
The PVC distribution, which commenced on November sixth, would be rounded off on November twelve 2018.
This was announced by the INEC Electoral Officer Anambra West Local Government Aarea, Mr Victor Oko during a stakeholders meeting at Umueze Anam Town Hall.
Mr Oko stressed that the distribution of these cards, which could have commenced before now was delayed because of the flood that ravaged virtually the communities in the area
The INEC officer said that during the collection period there would be provision for claims and objections, noting that during this period, INEC will commence distribution of voter-cards-secondly-provision for claims and objections for those registered in 2017.
Mr Oko noted that due to the difficult terrain of the area, special provisions have been made to tackle it, especially those staying in various holding centres.
He emphasised that INEC had engaged the services of no fewer than ten trained Corps members with other INEC staff to ensure that the cards get to their original owners, adding that no fewer than two thousand, three hundred and seventy cards would be distributed and solicited for the support of all stakeholders in the area to ensure that information gets to the people for them to come within the stipulated period to collect their cards.
The Transition Committee Chairman of the Council Area, Mr Sylvester Okafor thanked INEC and the council Electoral officer Mr Oko for their commitments and selfless services to Ndi Anambra West and appealed to other stakeholders in the area to ensure proper mobilisation of their people to that effect.
