The Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) constituted by the National Leader of the party, and Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has met with serving political appointees as part of ongoing efforts by the party to reconcile aggrieved parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Welcoming the appointees, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Mrs Uju Okeke acknowledged that the outcome of the October 2018 party primaries had created disaffection among some party members hence the need for the ongoing consultations and reconciliation meetings.

She reported that the Committee had previously met with APGA State Executives, Transition Committee Chairmen and aspirants, and assured that in line with the mandate given to the Committee, it will carry out its functions objectively and report back its findings.

She charged the appointees to take back to their various constituencies the party’s and Governor’s messages of peace, brotherhood, sisterhood and hope.

On his part, an APGA stalwart, Chief Ben Obi, praised Governor Obiano for the courage in setting up the Committee, noting that it was timely.

Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, the Secretary of the Committee and Political Adviser to the Governor in his remarks , charged the appointees to be cautious in their utterances especially those asking for the resignation of some party executives.

He urged the appointees to consider themselves as the last line of defence and Brigade of Guards of both the Governor and the party stressing that the onus lies on them to defend the party and the actions of the government at all times.

The meeting was attended by serving Commissioners, Special Advisers, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Executive Assistants to Governor Obiano.
