Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka will today play host to past and present African leaders as they gather in honour of Nigeria’s first republic president, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, under the auspices of Seventh Zik Lecture Series.
According to a release from the chief host and Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Joseph Ahaneku, former Tanzanian president, Mr. Benjamin Mkapa, will be the guest speaker, at the event billed for ten O’clock tomorrow morning, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Auditorium Awka.
Also on the upcoming event, the benefactor of Zik Lecture Series, Senator Ben Ndii Obi, says it will also mark Zik’s One hundred and fourteenth posthumous birthday, as the legend was born on November sixteen, 1904 .
The release further names the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha as distinguished guest of honour, while the host governor, Chief Willie Obiano is a special guest of honour.
The event which will be chaired by Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, also has some serving ministers and past and present governors as special guests, while Zik’s widow, Prof Uche Azikiwe, is mother of the day.
