State government says it will put the Nengo River Bridge to use by motorists this Christmas.
Governor Willie Obiano stated this when he paid an inspection visit and witnessed the launch of beams on the bridge at Umunya-Nteje Boundary in Oyi Council Area.
The Nengo Bridge is about thirty six meters long with three spans of twelve meters each.
Governor Obiano who gave the assurance, revealed that the contractor has been paid to make sure that it is put to use this December, stressing the economic importance of the bridge which links Umunya and Nteje Communities.
The Governor noted that with the bridge in place, a lot of developments will be hopefully pulled to the area, expressing optimism that he will come back to commission the bridge this Christmas.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ikejiofor assured that the contractor is back on site, expressing optimism that he will deliver on his promise in record time, and said that with the launch of the beam, the hardest part of the job is done.
The Site Engineer, Mr. Francis Ekezie emphasized that they will commence mounting the approach slabs on Monday, in anticipation of its completion in record time, so that motorists will begin to use it.
