The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh says election rigging will be impossible in next year’s general elections in the State.
Senator Umeh was speaking at a Round Table Meeting for Key Stakeholders in the South East Geopolitical Zone; co-organized by Anambra State Government and the United Nations.
The interactive session for pre-election consultative meeting was held at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Chief Umeh who spoke on behalf of Lawmakers in the Region said that the Senate has made the card reader a lawful instrument in the hands of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of the election, having been passed it into law.
He said that the law which is still waiting for President Mohammadu Buhari’s signature will totally eliminate doctoring of figures through
falsification or over voting after the election as it will be admissible in court, and harped on the many benefits of the innovation
in the Country’s electoral process.
Speaking on behalf of Media Practitioners in the South East, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Uche Nworah assured of professionalism and creation of
level play ground for aspirants and political parties by Media practitioners in the region, saying that media practitioners will always fulfill their social responsibility to the
public.
The Chairman of the State Civil Society Network, Prince Chris Azoh while emphasizing that election is the foundation of democracy and development, added that the OGP is the epitome of transparency, accountability and good governance.

He stressed that they have been holding trainings in capacity building with INEC and other development partners to ensure free fair and credible elections come 2019.
The Round Table meeting sought to brainstorm, preempt and capture possible issues arising from elections in the past with a view to addressing them.
