Thirty persons have been convicted by the Mobile Court of the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps for various traffic offences.

The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Sunday Ajayi who disclosed this in a telephone interview with Abuchi Nwozor said that penalties of those convicted depend on the gravity of the offence committed.

According to Mr Ajayi, the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps will leave no stone unturned in its effort to ensure sanity on the highways.

He cautioned motorists against acts capable of causing carnage on the roads, reminding them of the need to always keep their vehicles in good condition in order to save their lives and that of other road users.

Mr Ajayi who said that as part of efforts by the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps in reducing gridlock on the highways, the command will deploy its officers and men to all flash points across the State especially during this yuletide.

He disclosed that the command will carry its campaign on road safety measures to all the twenty-one local government areas of the State, in addition to increasing its campaigns on both print and electronic media.

Mr Ajayi charged the Clergy and other Church workers to always include road safety consciousness in their sermons, so that the message will permeate all nooks and crannies of the society.

He commended the State government, individuals, groups and co-operate bodies, for their support to the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps calling for its sustenance.
