Governor Willie Obiano has called on the citizenry to support contractors handling various projects across the State to deliver quality work and on schedule.

Governor Obiano made the call at the Ikenga Ogidi erosion site, Ogidi in Idemili North Council Area.

The Governor who noted that State government has ordered and mobilized contractors back to site, pointed out that it is only when the various benefiting Communities rally round the contractors, that the speed of executing the projects will be intensified.

He said that State government has paid the counterpart fund for erosion sites in the State in fulfillment of its own part of the bargain, expressing optimism that the contractor handling the project will stick to the two year completion agreement.

The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Mike Okonkwo and the Project Coordinator of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management in the State, Mr. Michael Ivenso revealed that State government paid compensation to people of the area to facilitate the project, adding that on completion, a different water drainage channel will be created for the flood to inhibit reoccurrence.

The Contractor handling the project affirmed that they have been mobilized for the phase of work they are doing, noting that the Community members have been very supportive, and assured that they will not renege on the tenets of the agreement.

Mmegbuanaeze who was there to receive the Governor and his entourage said that on completion, the project will be quite beneficial to them, pledging the people’s support to Governor Obiano’s people-oriented government.
