Over three hundred and fifty trained small-scale entrepreneurs are to commence their business careers as the Wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano has presented various start-off tools and cash to them at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The beneficiaries who are, the fifth batch since the inception of the skills acquisition programme in twenty-fourteen, had previously undergone six-weeks of successful intensive training on various chosen enterprises, including bakery, soap making, tailoring and fashion design, computer repair and hair dressing.

Total of four thousand three hundred and fifty persons have so far been empowered through the initiative, which is a paramount branch of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, the Governor’s Wife’s social intervention programme.

The equipment donated to the beneficiaries include sewing machines, baking tools, hair dryers, ovens, computer sets amongst others.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, Mrs. Obiano noted that it gave her immense pleasure to see smiles on the faces of the needy, adding that she felt fulfilled to have come this far in helping mankind.

The Governor’s Wife tasked the beneficiaries to build on the Kick-off benefits and use the resources prudently.

The Member Representing Idemili North at the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Nkoli Mmegbuaneze, who also witnessed the occasion, said the governor’s wife has set commendable standard through her immeasurable charity works.

The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, said the empowerment which is an all-Anambra resident scheme, has projected Mrs. Obiano’s sincere compassion for all persons irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations.

In their separate remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Council Area, Honourable Sylvester Okafor, and a former Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North, Honourable Emeka Onwuzuka, noted that the Governor’s Wife’s benevolence has impacted positively in the lives of the less privileged in the state and urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture with productivity and hard work.

Earlier in their respective addresses, the Coordinator of the CAFE Skills Acquisition Training, Mrs. Eyiuche Nwankwo, and the Director, Mary Sumner Vocational Institute, Awka, where the beneficiaries had undergone trainings, Lady Ngozi Ezomike, said the yields of the programme have added greatly to its ideology of self-sufficiency and entrepreneural independence.

The beneficiaries, who received a start-off funds of twenty thousand Naira each, as well as two thousand Naira each to pay for transportation of their equipment home, described the intervention as a dream come true and said the governor’s wife has built a solid foundation for their aspirations.
